Dear reader,
First of all, welcome to SAvour!
My name is Viki and I’m the creator and writer of SAvour. I’m so glad you’re here!
This blog is dedicated to all things food in South Australia (hence the ‘SA’ in SAvour) with a specific focus on its humble capital, and my hometown, Adelaide.
Whether you’ve lived in Radelaide your whole life and are looking for someplace new to eat, or if you’re visiting for a relaxing trip or weekend away, SAvour is the blog for you. With reviews and recommendations galore, you’ll never find yourself asking where to eat – SAvour has got you covered.
How did this all start, I hear you ask?
Well, I’m a Greek-Australian, with all four of my grandparents being born in Greece. By living in Australia with a Greek heritage, I’ve been lucky enough to be immersed in two very distinct cultures, most notably through the food they have to offer. My first ever foodie inspirations would easily have to be my grandmothers, who are the best cooks I know. They exposed me to food in all its authentic, homey and delicious glory, which is something that has really shaped me as a person. It’s because of them that I can’t get enough of food. Eating it, watching it, making it, serving it, reading about it – you name it, if it involves food, I’m there.
Growing up with a background that often differed to my peers, from a young age, I loved learning about other people’s stories, cultures and ways of life. As it turns out, one of the most effective ways to do this is through (yes, you guessed it) food!
This interest in other people has also led me to study law and journalism. Although I’m still undecided as to which path I’ll take, food journalist is proving to be a strong contender as a potential career. So I thought to myself, why not just make it happen? Hence, the creation of SAvour.
Anyway, enough about me; this blog is about the food! Adelaide is full of amazing foodie experiences just waiting to happen, as long as you know where to look – and now that you have SAvour, you definitely will.
I hope you enjoy reading my posts as much as I enjoy making them for you all (a big part of my job is actually eating the food I talk about, so trust me, I am definitely enjoying myself!).
To good food and good times!
Cheers,
Viki
